*Sneak Peek ~ Top of the Stairs*

Following on from *this* post my Jubilee mug has found it's way to the top of the stairs now!
So I thought I would show you a quick sneak peek of where it is.
It now sits on top of an old teeny tiny suitcase from 1942 which belonged to my husbands Grandfather which is just wonderful & I think deserves a blog post of it's own really.

They both sit on top of my cute little thrifty buy cabinet which I've blogged about before when I bought it *here*
Just a quick sneak peek today but I hope you liked it ...

*Jubilee Fun*

Did you all have a lovely Jubilee weekend?

Did you see the Jubilee celebrations on TV.
I loved seeing the flotilla & The Royal barge.
How beautiful did it look? I absolutely loved those regal seats that were on the barge but unfortunately they didn't get used at all!
I would have made good use of those if I was on board, they looks so pretty!

The highlight of the weekend for me though was Prince Charles' Tribute to the Queen.
How absolutely adorable was this show!
I so loved seeing old cine-footage of the Queen & family, wasn't it so so sweet to see them relaxing & having fun?

Did you enjoy any Jubilee celebrations?
We went to a Jubilee Vintage Day at The Bowes Museum on Sunday but to be honest it was a bit of a wash-out & there wasn't as many vintage stalls as I was expecting, but hey ho, we had a lovely Jubilee Tea Party on the night with lots of bubbly so that cheered us up!
*giggle*
Lots & lots of you came a shopping at the Vintage Amethyst boutique over the long weekend too so it is turning out to be a very very busy week.
I am trying to get the orders out as quickly as possible but I'm afraid orders will be taking a day or two longer to process due to the amount & the four day weekend thus no posting for the first half of the week.
I have even had my husband James working for Vintage Amethyst too, helping me out & he said he had a fab time so perhaps he should give up his art career & work full time for Vintage Amethyst!!!
*tee hee*

Anyhoo, hope you all had a super duper Jubilee weekend.

Long Live the Queen!
*Hurrah*

*Vintage Jubilee Mug*

Well it is the Diamond Jubliee weekend this weekend but today I thought I would share with you my Silver Jubilee mug!

I have had this mug since I was very little, 2 in fact!
When it was the Silver Jubilee in 1977 my mum bought my sisters & I one of these commemorative mugs each to keep.
I always remember growing up & knowing I had it & my Mum keeping it safe for me for when I was grown up ~ but it was mine, a special something for when I was older that I could put in my own home. I always remember thinking of it as some sort of treasure even though I didn't really realise what the Silver Jubilee was all about at the time!

I have kept it & treasured it all these years though.
I got it out a couple of weeks ago & it has been sitting on the dresser in the dining room.
I wish my Mum was here to see it sitting proudly in my home as we celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.
10 years ago when it was the Golden Jubilee we went to see the Queen when she visited the town!
My Mum was such a lover of The Royal Family as am I!
When I was little I used to collect pictures of The Royal Family & stick them in scrap books & collect every book I could find on them!!!
Well it was the 80's hey day of The Royal Family when they were in every paper & magazine!
Funny thing was, was that my Mum had done exactly the same thing when she was little & I hadn't known until after I started.
One of my sisters told me a funny tale the other week, something that she remembers from the Silver Jubilee.
She is 10 years older than me so can remember it much more than I can.
She remembers that my Mum couldn't find white crepe paper anywhere & wanted some to dress the dining room window with for the celebration (I presume they didn't have silver crepe paper then!!!) my Mum didn't let this stop her though & decorated the window with good old toilet paper!!!
'Make Do' mentality at it's best!!!
