On Sunday I attended an amazing event,
Wartime Wedding from The History Wardrobe.
I had been approached by a lovely lady a few months ago who visited
Vintage Amethyst HQ! She was orgainising a ladies event at her church & was looking for stalls to compliment the event & found me online & then realised that I was only down the road from the church!!! How amazing is that!
Anyhoo, it all sounded wonderful so I of course agreed to it & it was held last Sunday.
The event was Wartime Wedding which was presented by The History Wardrobe.
It was an amazing talk by Lucy from The History Wardrobe but to call it a 'talk' is under rating it somewhat as it was more of a performace.
Lucy was amazing, she started out as a Land Girl who was getting married & went on to how many ladies would be married in a pretty 1940's suit which she changed into & then on to wedding dresses which this land girl would be married in!
She went through how they dressed, underwear, accessories, the different types of materials & where things came from etc. She had lots of lovely original 1940's items with her which she showed us including many lovely clothing items. She had lovely wedding dresses with her including the one above!

The talk was amazing, Lucy was amazing, she was witty, funny & very informative & also looked amazing in all the original outfits too!
We could go up afterwards & have a good look at all the clothes & items which was fun!
I would certainly recommend any talk by The History Wardrobe if you get the chance to see one.
They do all different talks too with Wartime Wedding only being one of them.

As I said I also had a stall too which was lovely & lots of lovely ladies bought lots of pretties.
All in all I had a really lovely afternoon & I hope everyone who attended did too.

This sounds like a great event Alison. I went to the Wartime Weekend in Pickering a few years ago and loved every minute! My only regret was that I hadn't had an opportunity to dress in period costume myself.
ReplyDeleteI love these kind of events and just wish that I had an opportunity to attend more of them. Glad that you had fun and your stall was a success.
