*Pink Wednesday*

Now regular readers will probably have noticed that I normally do a
White Wednesday post, but this week
I wanted to change it to Pink in tribute to the wonderful event that is
Race for Life.
As many regular readers will know my Mum is currently very poorly with cancer,
and so I'm taking part in Race for Life this year to help raise money for
Cancer Research as it obviously is very close to my heart as it is many peoples.
I'm obviously writing about this as it would be so so wonderful if you could sponsor me for this important cause!
Obviously if you are doing the race yourself or are already sponsoring someone I don't expect you to sponsor me too, but if there are any lovely kind people out there that are not currently sponsoring someone & would like to help raise money for Cancer Research I would really
love for your sponsorship!
It doesn't have to be a lot either, £1 or £2 is enough ~ if all followers of the blog could sponsor me a £1 that would amount to over £680! Plus if everyone following me on Twitter could sponsor a £1 that could raise over £1000 from Twitter alone! So you see if lots of people sponsor a small amount it is all worthwhile.
I have already raised £102 pounds in just over a week but I would love love love to raise so much more!
So please if you think you can afford to, please do sponsor me.
You can find my online sponsor page *here*
or just click the button overthere at the top right hand side.
Thank you so much!
Pleading over ... but you know it's for a great cause don't you?
*wink*

*At the other end ...*

Thank you for all the lovely comments last week about our little corner
of the living room on *this* post.
Some of you asked to see more so I thought I would show you a sneak peek
at the other end of the sofa this week!
Some of you that read the blog regularly may remember this little cutie from last year which I blogged about *here* when I first bought it & then again when I painted it.
I painted it in a paint from Johnstones (I think) called Wolf Grey, it was a bargain at only £4.99 for the pot & I managed to paint lots more furniture with this bargain pot of paint too!
I bought the sweet knob from Ebay for only £4.50, which was a lot less expensive than some shops I had looked in for one.
The lovely vintage style glass dish that is sitting on cabinet shelf is one from the
Vintage Amethyst Boutique.
They are only £5 & so are a super buy for a little vintage style.
Find them *here*
On top of the cabinet is a vintage bon bon dish ~ regular readers will know of my love of these bon bon dishes! I think I could fill my house with them if I could find enough!
Also on the top which you can't really see properly is a little vintage style glass heart shaped candle holder also from the Vintage Amethyst boutique.
These are only £3 & are so adorable.
Find them *here*
Sneaking into view at the side of the cabinet is one of the lovely
Vintage Style Birdcages from the boutique.
These are so popular everyone loves them!
You can place them anywhere & they look so wonderful & pretty.
They are £24 & you can find them *here*
Sneaking into view on the other side is just a plain grey Ikea throw folded over the sofa arm ~ this is where I sit generally & I tend to sit with a cup of tea on the sofa arm so this little buy saves a white sofa from any marks, plus you can snuggle under it when feeling a little chilly.
They are only a few pounds from Ikea so are a super buy.
Well I hope you have enjoyed another little sojourn in our living room this week ...

*Love this ...*

I came across this really pretty image on
House to Home.
I love the overly distressed frames on the wall with simple pretty pictures,
a simple yet pretty idea to do if you have scraps of left over wallpaper or fabric.
Of course I love all the soft feminine colours & fabrics too & a simple slip cover is a perfect
way to revamp an old chair isn't it.
I feel this look is so perfect for this time of year, it has a lovely Spring feel to it doesn't it?
Find a similar Union Jack cushion at Vintage Amethyst *here* or go for a lovely country style cushion cover with pretty roses & gingham *here*.

*Corner of the Living Room*

I thought today I would show you a sneaky peek into our living room.
As you can see this is the corner of the living room & I'm sure not suprisingly to many of you,
 it's white & grey!
You know I love me some white & grey!
The sofa is of course one of the ever faithful Ikea sofas with white slip covers.
I know some people are suprised by white sofas (well perhaps not my lovers of white readers of course!) and think they must get really dirty but they don't really. Plus of course you can wash the slip covers
& buy another set of them for only £30.64 for a two seater (an odd price now Ikea by the way!)
Anyhoo I love my white sofa!
The cushions I love!
The flowery one is a Lene Bjerre one, I bought a pair of them from TK Maxx a few years ago.
I couldn't belive my luck as I had loved Lene Bjerre fabrics for ages & then I found these lovelies for
£9.99 each.
The Union Jack cushion was a bargain buy from B&Q of all places!
We were in for the usual bit & pieces & they had these for under £10.
I bought my sister one in cream & she loved it too.
The bookshelf is good old Ikea again that we (well James) actually cut down to fit the space
& then we painted in a soft grey eggshell.
It's filled with odds & ends, the big wicker heart at the top is from the Vintage Amethyst shop as are the zinc candle holders.
The wallpaper as mentioned before on the blog is Josette from Laura Ashley & the walls are painted in Whiltshire White from Dulux in the extra matt for a lovely chalky finish.
The lovely coving at the top of the room, that can just be seen, is original to the house & is magnificent ~ we are so lucky to have it.
And finally the painting on the wall is by our dear friend, artist Paul Denham, and is one of a rare pair of white paintings from him.
I hope you have liked this little sneak peek into our living room corner ...

*Sad News ~ Sorry, Closed for a While*

Hello everyone.
As some of you remember reading *this* post last year my Mum had cancer,
well I'm afraid we found out last week it has returned & spread.
She has been in hospital for over a week & has been incredibly poorly this week.
Obviously I don't really want to talk about it here but I'm afraid I have had to close the
Vintage Amethyst shop for a while as I am spending so much time at the hospital.
Hopefully I will be opening again next week.
All current orders are being wrapped up & posted very soon so please don't worry about those.
All I can ask is please be patient with me at the moment if you do send e-mails etc. & please do pray, send Reiki or healing positive thoughts her way.
Thank you everyone.
