*All Good Wishes for a Happy Day*

I love vintage postcards, I always have done for some reason.
I remember when I was younger I used to buy them. I used to love going to car boots or flea markets when on holiday (we didn't really have many near us when I was little for some reason!)
I was always facinated with old postcards. Vintage jewellery too, but my Mum liked old jewellery & often bought vintage rings & small things for me which was simply wonderful. I thought they were such treasures!
We also had a fab second hand shop in town that I remember visiting on Sunday mornings with my Dad & this was before shops were generally open on a Sunday so it felt really exciting! The shop stocked the most wonderful collection of vintage postcards & old photos too & I used to love looking through them all. I often wondered about the people in the photos & what had happened to them & why such personal treasures had ended up in a second hand shop many years later.
I was really facinated with the beauty & charm of old postcards & often used to come home with a few of my favourites, that my Dad kindly bought for me!
I often wonder what happened to the cards I collected as I don't have them now, I think I must have got rid of them in my teenage years which is a shame.
I still love old postcards & have a small collection now. I simply love their beauty & find the backs of them just as beautiful, if not more so on some occassions! I really love having ones that have been used to send greetings to a loved one, it seems wonderful to have such a small piece of time that has been captured so simply in writing & people seemed to have such beautiful writing in passed times ...

All good wishes for a happy day.
Yours sincerely
Ethel.

  1. Me too, Alison! I have a collection tucked away somewhere. I wondered about framing them, but I like to see the backs, like you. They had lovely handwriting, and they didn't waste words in those days, did they? I think we throw things out in our youth without any idea of how much they would mean to us in later years. Thanks for sharing your memories.

  4. How lovely is that? Where have you found these? I have been looking in charity shops but have yet to come across any, like yourself I think it is so lovely to come across little treasures like this, people very rarely send postcards or letters anymore which is a shame, they are so personal xxx

  5. Like you, I have always adored old postcards and the messages written on them, especially love notes because I always wonder what had happened, did they live happily ever after, or was their some tragic heartbreak? I'm so fascinated with the history of the past....this postcard you have is so precious! Have a lovely weekend Alison =) Xoxoxo

  9. Yes...the old vintage postcards are much more artistic and of a story telling theme. Most today's postcards are simply photos and very cold and unimaginative.

Wishing you a beautiful pink weekend...

  11. It's lovely that you have rescued this little greeting: it's like a whisper from the past.

  12. I appreciate your love for vintage cards and their greetings. Years ago I used to write letters to my grandmothers. One would always respond to my letters. Letters and postcards are personal, something we desperately need in this fast age of this century. Thanks for sharing your inspiration.
