This week I've been reading this adorable book
Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe
by Jenny Colgan
♥
I haven't ready any of Jenny's books before & this one caught my eye, firstly with it's fab pink colour, (I'm like a magpie for pink sometimes!) and secondly it's name!
So cupcakes & pink what wasn't there to like about this book? Well ok the story could have been bad as we really shouldn't judge a book by it's cover ... but when it's such a cute cover ... *eek*
Anyhoo I wasn't disappointed, I really enjoyed this book. It's obviously a girly girls book I think & not to spoil the end, but I don't think I would be giving anything away by saying it's a happy ever after type ending!
♥
It's all about a 30 something girl who when she is fired from her job has the idea that she wants to do something she loves & that something she loves is baking cakes! So it will come as no great suprised that the Cupcake cafe is born! It really is a sweet tale about friendships, love & yes cakes!
The book is also filled with wonderful cake recipes as Issy's beloved Grandfather, who used to be a baker writes his recipes down & posts them to her & each chapeter starts with one of his recipes!
It is a lot of fun & if you are a girly girl who loves cakes this certainly is a cute summer read for you ...

looks like a sweet book, alison. i'll have to look for it. i'm guilty of judging a book by it's cover, on occasion too.

Sounds like a really good read x
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm visiting from Pink Saturday. I definitely agree with you about being a magpie when it comes to pink things. I'm drawn like a magnet to them, and when they are coupled with green and white, I'm even more wild.
ReplyDeleteOn a recent trip, I ran into 2 gals wearing pink, green, and white dresses. I could hardly contain myself and had to compliment both of them. SUCH a great color combination!!
Thanks for the heads-up about the book. It sounds like a lovely read.
Have a great weekend,
Patti
It really is a cute summer read I would recommend to anyone. It is really easy & fun reading, you will whizz through it!
ReplyDeleteOoohh Patti, I love green & white with pink too, those dresses sound so pretty!

I have read a few of Jenny Colgan's books although not this one and I agree they are definitely girly girl books but who doesn't love a good happy ending from time to time. Beats a thriller any day. If you enjoyed this book and you haven't read any Cecelia Aherne books then I would also recommend reading some of them as they are also real modern fairytale type books.
ReplyDeleteOh I did enjoy it Cheri, it was a fab read a real page turner!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of Cecelia Aherne books before & yet I always see them, so I will have to try them now, thanks for the recommendation.
