*Vintage Dreamy*

As I looked out of my Mum's window on to an almost bare garden the other day I was delighted to see that her hydrangea bush had these wonderful blooms still bringing a touch of loveliness to the world.
Of course I had to have some, so I asked & she granted my wish & off I went to snip some pretty blooms to take home & place in a simple jug.
Aren't the wonderful blush colours of the blooms delicious, so delicate & so terribly vintage dreamy.
I can't believe that I picked these on Tuesday afternoon & I had to leave one bloom behind as it had a little ladybird sleeping underneath the petals & then on Wednesday night it snowed & snowed & snowed & we awoke to a thick blanket of snow on Thursday morning!
Throughout Thursday morning it continued to snow heavy too, big fat snowflakes falling, falling.
It seems that one minute these delicate beauties were enjoying the last hurrah of Autumn & then all of a sudden the Snow Queen cast her wand & a winter wonderland appeared!
I am so terribly glad I managed to cut some blooms before this winter weather started as I'm not sure they will last much longer now ... oh but imagine their delicate colouring peeking out under sparkling white snow ~ now that would be vintage dreamy ...

I bought these cutie pie shoes & they were a bargain-licious £3!!!!
*woo-hoo*
I got them from Tesco of all places!
We normally shop in Sainsbury's as it is nearby us & Tesco is in the next town but it is one of those 24 hour ones with lots of extra goodies & every now and again we do pop on over on a night to take a peek at the dvds, homewares, clothes etc. and I'm so glad I did that day when these were on sale!
I think they are super cute fairytale style shoes but with a 'bit of edge' with that ruffled zip effect!
I love the soft colour too as I've been looking for a pair of shoes in this colour ~ hurray!

*Call me old fashioned ...*

Yes call me old fashioned, & I know there will be a lot of people out there that disagree with me but I do love a good old Royal Wedding!
So obviously I was thrilled to hear that Prince William & Kate Middleton are now engaged & are planning a Spring/Summer wedding for next year!
Lets hope it will be quite the event that Prince Charles & Lady Diana's wedding was & that there will be many a good old fashioned street party with plenty of flags & bunting!

*Damien Hirst Exhibition*

Last night we had tickets to a Damien Hirst exhibition preview night.
The exhibition was a show of more than 50 works, many unseen by the public.
All the works were privately owned & brought together in this collection.
The curator of the event was Greville Worthington, a former Turner Prize judge & he made a speech about the collection before we all got a chance to view the exhibition.
To be honest neither James or are are huge fans of Damien Hirst, but hey if you get invited why not go!
There were lots of people there & everyone seemed incredibly 'well to do' as they tend to be at these types of events!
A film crew was there too but we never actually saw any filming going on, perhaps it happened before we got there.
There was also a photographer, one of those ones that take 'society' photos that appear in magazines, but none of our group were photographed, perhaps we didn't look rich enough! A shame really considering that we met up with some friends there & amongst us there were a few artists, an art gallery owner & little ol' me, the photographer seemed more interested in the 'Sloan Ranger' types!!! Then again none of us really would have wanted our photo taken so perhaps it was for the best!
We got to speak to the curator Greville Worthington as he seemed to make the effort to speak to everyone who were there, which was nice.
Although as I mentioned early I'm not a huge fan but if I had to chose my favourite work in this exhibition I would say it was a collection of work entitled
The Last Supper
'which is a set of 13 prints designed to mimic drug packaging; using humour and pathos to question whether drugs are as vital to man’s survival as food.'
See above ~ I like dumplings & I like pink this was my favourite!!!! That's the long & short of it!
It was interesting to go to (even if your not a huge fan of the artist) & lets face it you get a few drinks, some nibbles & spend time with friends so what's not to like!

*A Sneak Peek ~ In the Hall*

We've been decorating the hall recently so I thought I would show a little photo of how it is looking.
We've added this tongue & groove panelling to the lower half of the wall & it has made the hall & stairs feel so much better.
I wanted to do this when we first moved in 7 years ago but we had to renovate the whole house & so this sadly got left whilst more important things got done.
But I'm so glad we've done it now as I just love it.
We painted in in Cornforth White from Farrow & Ball, I just love this soft grey colour.
The walls are painted in Picket Fence from B&Q, which is very much like Craig & Rose's Regency White as we had this colour on the wall previously & you can hardly tell the difference!
I did want to sand back the parquet flooring as I wasn't so keen on this colouring with the grey but I think I've got used to it over a few weeks so I think it will probably stay this colour now, plus it compliments the sea-grass runner we have on the stairs that you can just see peeping into shot on the left & a big plus is that if it is left how it is, it saves on a lot of work & mess!
My lovely vintage style mannequin doesn't live here in the hall, she normally resides in the dining room but I had moved her out of the way whilst I took some product photos in the dining room & she looked so pretty here that I quickly took this photo.
I think she suits being in the hall, don't you?
But she does look terribly pretty in the dining room so I couldn't bare to move her permanently!
*giggle*
P.S Before I go, I now have over 500 followers so another giveaway will be along very soon to celebrate!
Thank you to all my lovely followers old & new for popping by & for leaving such lovely messages ...
