*Pretty Cath Kidston Mugs*

As it is Show & Tell Friday at My Romantic Home again I thought these week I would share my pretty Cath Kidston mugs as they look so lovely & Spring like with their pretty colours.
These were actually a Christmas present along with lots of other delightful goodies from my mother-in-law.
I love these boxes that the Cath Kidston Mugs come in don't you & this pretty blue is just lovely.

The mugs actually stayed in their box for a few weeks after Christmas sitting on my dresser in the dining room as they just looked so pretty like that, but of course eventually I had to take them out & start using them!
But don't worry I certainly didn't throw the pretty box away, oh goodness no. I must admit though I haven't found a use for it as of yet but it is safely stashed away in the Lloyd Loom ottoman we use as a window seat in the dining room waiting for a day when it will be perfect for something pretty ...

*Our Pale but Pretty Fireplace*

This week for White Wednesday I thought I would post a picture of our fireplace.
So here it is. The fire surround itself it painted in a stony white.

The candlesticks are painted in Craig & Roses Regency White & then distressed.
Two silver photo frames sit on the hearth, one has a photo of my Nana with my mum as a new baby which was taken in 1940 & the other is a photo of my Grandad in his uniform.

The two candlesticks on the top of the fireplace are vintage & were bought for me by my lovely Mummy who knew I was looking for some & picked them up at a charity shop for £1.99 for the pair!

The little jar at the other end beside the mirror is one of my vintage bon bon jars which has a very slight blueish tinge to it which is only really noticable if you place it next to my other bon bon jar which is the same apart from the tinge of colour! I thrifted this from a charity shop for £1.99.

The mirror was a thrify find from a carboot which I paid £8 for & painted anitque white & then aged a little by staining with some tea & then distressing!

The pretty wallpaper is grey with a pretty white pattern & is from Laura Ashley & was called Josette.

In the mirror you can just about see some of our wonderful original cornice that we are lucky to have along with our huge tall ceilings that come along with Victorian Houses & the two painting which are hung on the wall are by our bestest friend the artist Paul Denham & are a rare white palette for him but totally perfect for our home.

So I hope you like our pretty little fireplace, it is full of pales, whites & vintage as you can see which of course you know I love ...

*Delicious Goodies from Mollycupcakes*

Oooohh look how yummy all this little lot is?
I was such a lucky girly as I won the lovely 'Who Done It?' giveaway over at the lovely Mollycupcakes blog.

We had to guess which one of Catherines little cuties ate the topping off her cupcake, how cute it that? And *yay* I was a winner!!!
My love of Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple & Poirot helped me a lot with my deducting who actually was the cute culprit in the cupcake crime! *giggle*

All the delicious goodies were delivered to me on Saturday morning. The prize consisted of this little cupcake above which had a wash cloth & a 'raspberry lip licker' lip gloss inside.
I didn't want to open it for ages & ages as it looked so adorable but my wanting of the 'raspberry lip licker' overcame me so of course I had to!

Also came this lovely 'Confetti Cupcake Soapsicle' ~ I just love these don't you, they are so terrible cute. I'm afraid this little cutie hasn't been opened yet though, but I am going to as I always seem to save pretty soaps as I think they are just too lovely to open but then you only end up having to throw them out when they go all yucky don't you, so no I am definitely going to use this cutie pie!

And finally this most delicious of teeny tiny cards came with the prizes too ~ *eek* how cute-a-licicous is it?
I love tiny things! Love them, why are tiny things just the best?

Thank you so much Catherine you sweet thing, I really loved loved loved my giveaway goodies.

I know many of you know Catherine but if you haven't met before please do pop over to her terribly sweet blog ~ visit her *here*

*A Touch of Vintage Charm*

Ok so it is White Wednesday once again thanks to the lovely Kathleen at Faded Charm & this week I thought I would post about the new lovely vintage style organisers for the home that I have just got into the boutique.

The one above as you can see is a particularly useful piece of loveliness for the home.
A shelf & hook combo with rather fab little chalkboards above each section.
Isn't it just perfect for the hall or for a family with children so each can have their own hook?

Is is finished in white with some distressing going on for a Vintage feel.
They are £25 & can be found *here*

Now on to this little beauty ~ a lovely vintage style organiser for all your letters or anything else that needs to be popped into little cubby holes. Isn't it just wonderful, I love it!
You can also label all the little cubby holes too & there is a large drawer in the bottom for all those things that need hiding away like ugly keys for example.
It hangs on the wall & so would be ideal for the hallway or kitchen or a study room infact.

It is finished in a dark off white & is also distressed for that Vintage look.
They are £30 & can be found *here*

Hope you like the new items as much as I do ...

*A lovely Springy day at last!*

Oohhh Sunday was a lovely day. Sunny & dare I say it, a little warm too!
Had Spring arrived at last I wondered?

We decided to head up North & visit Durham for the day. We hadn't been since we were teenagers & thought a visit was well over due. Durham is full of wonderful buildings, the Cathedral & Castle obviously among them but it is one of those pretty towns like Bath & York that are just full to the brim of pretty cottages, houses & other buildings.

I'm not sure we could have choosen a more perfect day though, it was beautiful.
The students were making us feel old & lazy though I'm afraid, there were so many of them about full of life & energy.
They were all off to play Rugby, (the ones we passed were girls too!) they were running by the river, biking by the river & rowing on the river, playing football & we even saw some off to play Lecrosse! But it was a perfect day for being outside, so we will allow them to make us feel old ~ even though it doesn't seem 2 minutes since we were both at Uni!

My first glimpse of crocus. Lovely. When did they arrive?
I haven't really been out much this last week as we have both been soooooo busy with work & so I am guessing it was this past week as I saw lots of them this morning on my travels.

On Saturday I even saw some lambs as we headed throught the Dales, I was really quite shocked as I thought it was too early for them but I know it isn't, it was just that high in the Dales there is still snow so it just seemed a little odd!

Ooooooohhh but lambs! Yay! No photos I'm afraid as we were in the car when I spotted a field full of them.

Anyhoo, today seems equally as sunny & warm, so screwed up face with eyes closed tight & wishes at the ready I am hoping it has finally arrived!

*Beautiful Blocks from Birdcages & Butterflies*

The other day I bought some pretty blocks from the lovely Annie over at Birdcages & Butterflies.
I have been sneaking a peek at them for a while now & then decided I couldn't resist them anymore!
They arrived all pretty with this very pretty tag which I just loved.

Annie had also read this post about my pretty little Vintage Pin Tin & mentioned she had one too that she would send to me as an twin for mine & the little pin tin came along with the blocks too.

Thank you so so much sweet pea, you are too kind & yes I did pop a little something in the post for you as a little thank you even though you said you didn't want one so watch out for the postie.

Aahhhh look how adorable the little blocks are.
They are hand decorated and decoupaged with pretty vintage style images of each season & two lovely word sayings.

They are just so perfect for year round display, you just turn them over with each season ~ perfect!
Such adorable little cuties.
Thank you so much Annie.

Do pop along to Annies blog shop for lots more lovely items, she has some pretty Mothers Day cards & signs at the moment.

*Pretty New Bag*

Look at this pretty!!!
Remind you of anything ... perhaps a certain Ms Cath Kidston???

Can you believe I picked this little gem up at Primark ~ Primark I tell you!

James' mum came for a fleeting visit on Saturday & we all went out to a lovely restaurant for lunch & then she wanted to pop into Primark for a shopping trip as she doesn't have one near her, so off we went.
We left the gentlemen folk to pop into a nearby coffee shop whilst us girlies took a shopping trip ~ well in to Hell lets face it Primark on a Saturday afternoon!!! It can get pretty ugly can't it?

I hadn't been in for an age & was feeling a little uneasy with the whole Primark on a Saturday vibe but then on a wall in the distance at the end of the shoe isles I spotted it ~ Heaven!

Pretty, pretty Heaven. Of course I made a bee line for it & looked at the price tag & really I nearly fainted at that point £6! £6 for this pretty people!!!

Of course I didn't think twice about it & there were only a few left anyhoo so of course it had to come home with me ~ it was infact the only thing I bought for myself but really who cares when you are going away with this little lovely.

When we made it out (safe & alive) we met the gentlemen & I showed James my new buy & he really couldn't believe it, he honestly couldn't believe how they could sell something so 'er hem reminiscent of a Cath Kidston bag & he really couldn't believe the price ~ I'm going to say it again £6 folks, £6!!!

Pretty & oh so perfect for Summer time methinks. I may even go & get another one as a replacement for when this one gets old & tired!

Please do visit Faded Charm & all the others joining in on White Wednesday

*Hurray, Hurray It's March Today*

Vintage Style Love Blocks available from the Vintage Amethyst Boutique *here*

Can you believe it is the 1st of March? Where did February go to?
Not that I'm complaining of course as I really can't wait for Spring to arrive this year after such a cold cold winter. I seem to be getting very old lady-like as each cold winter comes, I can't ever remember being this cold when I was a teenager! *eek* I'm only 35 if Winters continue to get colder for me, as they seem to have been over the last few years how cold am I going to be when I'm 70!!!!! I shudder (boom boom ~ 'ah thank you very much, I'll be appearing here all week folks!!!) to think!

The begining of March has brought some lovely sunshine with it but it is still bitterly cold & we did have 3 snowy days here last week so I'm not being fooled by this sunshine no siree! Everytime I start to get excited & think that it is a little lighter & brighter & Spring is arriving it snows!

I am just so glad that the shops are selling daffodils & tulips so that a little bit of Spring-time can be glimpsed.

Not only I can't believe it is March & can't believe it is Mothers Day in less than two weeks too! I'm sure normally it is feeling much more lovely & warm by Mothers day ~ but hey ho I suppose it could all change soon, lets hope so anyway.

Now if you are looking for a pretty gift for Mothers Day you know there are lots of pretty gifts at Vintage Amethyst don't you? Lots of pretty hearts, flower & love gifts just perfect for your Mummy's so pop on by & take a peek *here*.

Anyhoo Spring will be here before we know it with some warm sunshine & pretty Spring flowers everywhere you look ~ it will won't it, say it will?

Tiny Update

Yes you know what happened ~ woke up this morning & it had snowed in the night!!!
Luckily the sun is out today too & so it has melted & the only evidence is on roof tops in the shade.
I was right not to let that sunshine fool me yesterday!!! Not letting it fool me today either ...
